How to Land a God Job

Many people apply for work especially remote work and are often disappointed when they can't seem to find a job. There are a few things that need to be in place to land a good job.

First, we all need a good resume with up-to-date information on it. Sure, there will be past history, education, and work experience on it. but outdated information should be updated.

Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Have I moved?
  • Have I received new training?

  • Do I have new work experience?
  • Is contact information up to date?

You should also ask yourself if the resume has relevant information on it. For example, does the information on it relate to the position you are applying for. If you are a jack of a few trades like me, you may need more than one resume. Employees don't like to read or learn about things about you that have nothing to do with the position that you're applying for.

If you are a cosmetologist, you don't need information on your resume that pertains to you being a professional writer. Another tip, resumes don't need to be two pages long like some seem to think. (at most one and a half pages). Employees will toss your resume in the trash if they have several people applying for positions. They may not have time to read over long, drawn-out resumes. So back to the basics of relevant information that may qualify you for the position in which you are applying.

Last Tip, a professional cover letter will help you stand out in the crowd. The letter should only be two short paragraphs that highlight a little bit about you and why you would be great for the position.

The cover letter may begin like:

    Dear mam or sir,

Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the position of _________________. I am sure that my _______ years of experience as a ________________ and the fact that I am a dependable dedicated well-rounded individual would reflect excellence should I be hired.

If I am hired, I would work very hard to make sure that you are well pleased with what I can offer your company.

    Thanks for your consideration,
    Victoria Sheffield

This is not the way the full cover letter should be constructed but is an idea of how a good one - short to the point can be created.
